Information management

The explosion of information can hamper productivity, prolong decision-making and contribute to occupational stress. Amtec helps you to redress the balance between information requirements and productivity, and improve the way you manage information.
Our approach
In recognition of the real benefits that IM can deliver, and the many challenges facing user organisations, Amtec provides the following services:
  • strategy - creation of an explicit link between business objectives and IM; working with the organisation to help build a vision for IM and planning its achievement; showing the contribution of IM towards achieving business objectives; the direct benefits; and recommended programmes of work to achieve the vision.
  • policy and guidelines - a corporate statement of the role of information in the organisation and goals to be achieved: providing an expected code of conduct to achieve the desired goals in terms of working practices, behaviour and culture; providing practical guidance, such as email etiquette, and best practice for overcoming information overload.
  • audit - an audit of individual business units to establish information needs for effective operation: reviewing the processes undertaken, the information required to support them, and its flow and frequency; identifying information gaps and duplication; reviewing existing systems (IT and non-IT) in meeting needs; recommending improvements; reviewing competencies of staff; identifying training and development needs; preparing an action plan for improvement.
  • technology audit - an audit of current systems and their level of integration: assessing their ability to serve corporate and local needs; identifying manual systems which could usefully be computerised; investigating performance and functionality in relation to business needs; assessing the level of staff training.
  • scoping, specification and selection - advice that focuses entirely on the needs of our client to develop requirements, select the best option and support the implementation of the most appropriate solutions to meet organisational goals and requirements:
    • electronic document and records management (EDRM).
    • content management.
    • workflow and business process management (BPM).
    • customer relationship management (CRM).
    • applications integration.
Benefits of our approach
These include:
  • leads to quicker and better-informed decision making.
  • improves relationships with clients, colleagues and partners through an exchange of information and experience.
  • reduces risks to the organisation by ensuring that information is well managed.
